Ethiopia's Firewu Samuel clocked a personal best of 8:04.34 to claim third place in a tightly contested race decided by a photo finish.

Kenyan Kones Wilberforce initially led the race until 1200m before being disqualified, allowing El Bakkali and Samuel to take control.

Olympic bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwott finished fourth with a time of 8:08.21.

In the men's 800m, Olympic silver medalist Marco Arop of Canada ended Emmanuel Wanyonyi's winning streak, clocking a meeting record of 1:41.86 to take the victory.

Wanyonyi finished second in 1:43.23, while American Bryce Hopel completed the podium with a time of 1:43.32.

Arop, who recently lost to Wanyonyi in Paris, pulled away early and maintained his lead throughout the race, securing his first victory over Wanyonyi this season.
