
Ingebrigtsen breaks 3000m World Record as Arop gets revenge over Wanyonyi

It was a mixed meet for Kenyans as they lost in key races
Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen shattered the men's 3000m world record set by Kenyan Daniel Komen in 1997.
Ingebrigtsen clocked 7:17.55, slashing more than three seconds off Komen's 7:20.55.
Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi finished second with a personal best and national record of 7:21.28, while compatriots Yomif Kejelcha and Telahun Haile took third and fourth in 7:28.44 and 7:30.97, respectively.
Kenyan Ronald Kwemoi finished fifth with a time of 7:31.57, and Nicholas Kipkorir came in ninth, timing 7:33.46.
In 3000m men's steeplechase, Commonwealth bronze medalist Amos Serem secured a podium finish at the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday evening, finishing second in the men's 3000m steeplechase.
Fresh from the Olympics, the World U20 champion clocked 8:04.29, coming in behind Morocco's Soufiane El Bakkali, who set a season-best of 8:03.29 for the victory.
Ethiopia's Firewu Samuel clocked a personal best of 8:04.34 to claim third place in a tightly contested race decided by a photo finish.
Kenyan Kones Wilberforce initially led the race until 1200m before being disqualified, allowing El Bakkali and Samuel to take control.
Olympic bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwott finished fourth with a time of 8:08.21.
In the men's 800m, Olympic silver medalist Marco Arop of Canada ended Emmanuel Wanyonyi's winning streak, clocking a meeting record of 1:41.86 to take the victory.
Wanyonyi finished second in 1:43.23, while American Bryce Hopel completed the podium with a time of 1:43.32.
Arop, who recently lost to Wanyonyi in Paris, pulled away early and maintained his lead throughout the race, securing his first victory over Wanyonyi this season.
