Helen Obiri's hunt for an Olympics gold medal did not come to be at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games despite registering a personal best of 30:24.27 in the 10000M.

After missing on the Olympics god at Tokyo 2020, finishing second and fourth in the 5000M and 10000M respectively, Helen Obiri is setting her sight on an Olympics gold in marathon.

Obiri has in the past expressed her desire to switch to road races after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and she has now confirmed the same.

"I am going to see from next year if I can start road because may be I might feature in another Olympics, may be a marathon. I can't keep waiting for gold from the track." Obiri told Team Kenya's media.

Obiri was thankful for managing a personal best in the 10,000M despite finishing fourth.

"It was hard. I tried all I could but it was not my day. With five laps to go, the body refused to push but I decided to keep going and I ran my personal best and I thank God for that," she added.

The two time 5000m champion was chasing an Olympics double gold in 5000m and 10,000m in a last ditch for the only gold missing in her cabinet but had to settle for silver in the 5K, a medal she won in Rio in 2016.
