Austria has been a fruitful hunting ground for Omanyala as back in 2023 he set the second fastest time in the nation of 9.86 seconds
Following an underwhelming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Ferdinand Omanyala bounced back in style to claim victory at the Josko Laufmeeting in Austria on Saturday 17 August.
The victory was delivered in a ruthless performance that saw Africa’s fastest man clock 9.95 seconds in the semi-finals which marked his first competitive race since the Olympics.
In the final, Omanyala oozed class as he dashed to victory in 10.0 seconds ahead of Briton Eugene Amo-Dadzie whose personal best is 9.93 seconds.
This marked sweet revenge for the second-fastest man in the world this season as the Briton had snatched victory from him back in the 2023 edition of the same event.
Austria has been a fruitful hunting ground for Omanyala as back in 2023 he set the second fastest time in the nation of 9.86 seconds.
Omanyala had a challenging Olympics as he was eliminated in the semi-finals after finishing eighth in a time of 10.08 seconds.
This matched his performance in the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where he finished third in the semis, stopping the clock at 10.0 seconds to agonisingly miss the final.
