Olympic and Wanda Diamond League (DL) champion Julien Alfred will face her fellow Paris 2024 medalists Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden as she continues her title defense.
Alfred made history last summer, becoming the first Saint Lucian to ever win an Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Her 10.72-second run to secure Olympic gold was a personal best (PB) in the 100m and set a new national record in the event for Saint Lucia.
She also owns national records in the 60m (6.94 seconds), 200m (21.86 seconds), 200m short track (22.01 seconds), 300m (36.05 seconds), and 400m short track (52.97 seconds).
Alfred came back from her gold medal performance in the women’s 100m to claim silver in the women’s 200m at the Paris Games just three days later, running 22.08 seconds to earn her and Saint Lucia’s second-ever Olympic medal.
The 24-year-old closed out her 2024 season with a Diamond Trophy, running 10.88 seconds in the DL Final women’s 100m.
She has started her title defence in style with back-to-back victories, clocking 10.89 in Oslo before setting a new meeting record of 10.75 in Stockholm.
Richardson in particular knows what it takes to win at Hayward Field, having become US champion thee in 2023 before claiming victory in 10.83 at last year’s Prefontaine Classic.
