DCI will face Prisons on Sunday
The 2017 champions Kenya Pipeline will take on African champions KCB in the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League title-decider scheduled to be played on Sunday at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
Both teams booked a slot in the decider aftrt winning their opening two matches in the playoffs but Pipeline enjoy a slight advantage as the have six points, one ahead of KCB.
Pipeline booked a slot after beating the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 3-0(25-18,25-19 and 25-19) on Saturday afternoon.
Reacting to the win, Pipeline head coach Paul Gitau said the early preparation and having a solid team has seen them make way to the final.
The tactician said he had spend the past one and half years preparing the team and he is glad the efforts put behind the scene are bearing fruit.
"I have sacrificed the past one and half years just to build the team. I wasn't interested in titles during the period I was patching up the team. I have a youthful team that is maturing well," he said.
With KCB lying in wait, Gitau said the final will be won by the team that will commit few mistakes on the court.
" I will not change a lot for the final match, all I want my players to avoid making errors,"he noted.
His DCI counterpart Daniel Bor regretted that the five-set thriller against KCB played on Friday attracted fatigue and thus could not match Pipeline.
" We played well in day one but there was an element of fatigue against Pipeline. Our concentration levels and aggressiveness were not good," he said.
Bor observed that their reception, defence and inaccurate services also contributed to loss to Pipeline.
However, he reckons that they will scoop the bronze medal when they face Prisons on Sunday in the final game.
" We have to rectify the mistakes before we take on Prisons. We are anticipating for a tough match as both teams are winless. I am sure we will win the bronze medal," he said.
