The 30-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Paris Olympics due to injury
Five-time Olympic medalist Shericka Jackson is embracing a fresh outlook and spiritual motivation as she prepares for her return to the track after a turbulent 2024 season.
The fastest woman alive over 200m has unveiled her new motto: “Not me, but God.”
The motto is a personal declaration that reflects her gratitude and resilience after enduring setbacks that saw her miss the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Jackson, who has won Olympic medals across four disciplines in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, had a season plagued by injuries and inconsistency.
In the buildup to Paris, she suffered a setback during the Gyulai István Memorial (Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix), finishing eighth in a race she was expected to dominate.
Her management at the time downplayed the injury, assuring fans she would recover in time for the Olympics.
She made it to Paris but was ultimately forced to withdraw from both the 100m and 200m events.
“This year is all about just giving Him the glory. I think it's going to be a miraculous season, and I'm looking forward to all the wonderful things it has to offer. I'm grateful for the opportunity to still compete—and to have competed for so long,” she told The Inside Lane.
Her 2024 campaign had started sluggishly, with underwhelming wins at the JAAA All-Comers Series #1 and Diamond League in Rabat, clocking slower-than-expected times.
Things did not improve in Oslo, where she finished fifth, but she bounced back with a win in Stockholm before easing into a lighter training schedule.
In February 2025, Jackson raced over 60m at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Development Meet, finishing second in 7.18 seconds behind fellow Jamaican Jodean Williams. Jonielle Smith took third in 7.21.
Her moment came at the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China, where Jackson truly began to reclaim her rhythm.
Anchoring Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m team, she led the squad of Natasha Morrison, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Tina Clayton to a bronze medal finish in 42.33 seconds, a season’s best.
When all is said and done, we need to have a conversation about Shericka Jackson’s speed and where it’s gone to. Getting run down like this is not a good look! pic.twitter.com/QjQRZUsSx5

The result not only earned Jamaica a podium finish, but also sealed a spot at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.
“China has a very special place in my heart. This is where I earned my first medal. As a team, we were able to qualify for the World Championships, and that was the main objective. Winning would have been icing on the cake, but we’re grateful to still stand on the podium,” she offered.
She also praised the presence of younger athletes in the team, calling it essential for continuity.
“We still have some youth in our team, and it’s good to have them get the experience because, as we go, they’ll be the ones to carry on the legacy,” she concluded.
