Bidco United coach Anthony Akhulia admits first five fixtures are tough

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has admitted that his side has tough five opening fixtures of the season but is confident in his side to perform.

United open the season with an away game against City Stars before hosting Gor Mahia in Thika. They will then travel to Bukhungu to face Vihiga Bullets before playing host to defending champions Tusker and KCB.

Tusker, Gor and KCB are sides expected to contest for the title in the 2022/23 season and Akhulia opines that they have a big task in their hands.

"All the five are tough matches. City Stars is a decent side, Vihiga away is a tough game. Tusker, KCB and Gor Mahia are all big teams. We expect tough opposition from them but again there are no easy games in the league, every team is in the top tier on merit and we are going to give a good account of ourselves," he said.

"We have prepared for four months, we had time to rectify the weakness that we noticed and I am happy that we are now going to compete. We are excited and looking forward to the new campaign,".

Of the five, Bidco faced Tusker, Gor and KCB during pre-season. They registered draws against Gor and Tusker and lost to KCB but the tactician does not bank on friendly matches outcome.

"Friendly games are friendly games. I don't think it gives you the true picture of what to expect in a competitive scenario. I do not expect teams to play the way they did during pre-season. Right now there's is motivation, there are points to be won, goals to be scored and you expect more aggression from teams, "he added.

After several delays, the new season will commence on 19th November.
