Bruno and the ‘bomb squad’ show support to Rashford

Many are wondering if Amorim made a mistake for letting him go to Barca
Maybe it was too harsh, but there is no way out now. Ruben Amorim did it not once, but twice – he crossed Marcus Rashford from his list of players and told him he can go. And Rashford went the first time, in February. He went to Aston Villa on a loan and came back in May with four goals (along with six assists) in 17 appearances for the Villains. It still wasn’t good for Amorim. So, Rashford went for the second time, in August, for another loan, this time to Barcelona. He responded with his first two goals against Newcastle in front of packed St. James Park in the Champions League. And now, many are wondering if letting Rashford go was a mistake. United spent 200 million on new strikers but maybe Amorim could try to patch things up with his player and get the best out of him.

Nicky Butt, who was a member of United's Treble-winning squad in 2019, said on BBC after the game: 'If I was Ruben Amorim, I'd be thinking, "What have I done?". And his for teammates from the so-called ‘bomb squad’ shared his goals on their social media networks, including the current captain Bruno Fernandes. The player himself was happy after the game for obvious reasons.
“For the first goal I attacked the space and focused on getting to the ball, while for the second goal technique was more important. I caught a glimpse of the space opening up. Still, the first goal was harder to score. What matters is that I try, that I put in effort, and that I stay determined and motivated. I want to stay in Barcelona as long as possible and win the Champions League” he said.
And while the coach and teammates are praising Rashford, his compatriots have another Barcelona player in the spotlight. Football masters noticed something beyond Rashford’s two goals in Barça’s win. The legendary Paul Scholes and current Everton star Jack Grealish looked at the game differently and posted on Instagram admiring Pedri’s performance. Of course, the whole football world knows what kind of player Pedri has grown into, but when such greats as Scholes and Grealish publicly admire a player who didn’t record a goal or an assist, it’s clear what kind of quality Pedri showed at St. James’ Park
1 - Marcus Rashford ranked first or joint first for Barcelona for shots (6), touches in the opposition box (10), dribbles (5) and possession won (6) tonight - he was the first Barca player to produce those numbers in a #UCL match since Lionel Messi back in 2015. “My new favorite player – Pedri” Paul Scholes wrote on social media. “It’s a joy to watch Pedri and De Jong play,” Grealish posted.
“It’s never easy to press us when we have Pedri and Frenkie in midfield. Today both of them played superbly. I’m glad they’re bursting with confidence” said Flick after the match.
Even Anthony Gordon, scorer of the consolation goal for the hosts, admitted that Barcelona’s football was a level above the Premier League that Newcastle’s players are used to.
“We’re not used to playing against players who keep the ball so well. We’ve played against Manchester City and Chelsea, but we’ve never felt this kind of level. The way they control the game is a new experience for us. They’re the best opponents I’ve ever faced in my career” said Gordon.
