Celebratory mood — PSG vs Brest, one step away from the title
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 10.05.26. | 15:21
Luis Enrique’s team would not yet be crowned champions with a win, but they would almost certainly move within touching distance of adding another trophy to their cabinet heading into the final round
Fresh off securing their place in the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League final, Paris Saint-Germain return to Ligue 1 duties on Sunday as they host a struggling Stade Brestois 29 at the Parc des Princes. It is another opportunity for the Paris giants to edge closer to what would be a fifth consecutive domestic title.
Luis Enrique’s team remain firmly in control at the top of the table, but the title race has been kept mathematically alive after RC Lens narrowly defeated FC Nantes 1–0 two days ago. That result cut PSG’s lead back down to just three points, ensuring there is still at least some pressure as the season enters its final stretch.

Confidence is high in the PSG camp after a dramatic European week. They overcame FC Bayern Munich in a tightly contested Champions League tie, sealing progression after a thrilling 5–4 first-leg win in Paris followed by a disciplined 1–1 draw in Germany. The second leg in particular showcased a more mature, controlled defensive performance to secure their place in the final.
Domestically, however, PSG have been slightly less dominant in recent weeks. A 2–2 draw with FC Lorient in their previous league outing extended a mixed run at home, where they have won just two of their last five Ligue 1 matches. Even so, their position at the summit remains in their own hands — though Lens’ win has ensured there is no room for complacency.
Given the physical demands of the midweek clash in Munich, rotation is expected. Players such as Ibrahim Mbaye, Bradley Barcola, and Goncalo Ramos are all in contention to feature from the start as Enrique manages his squad carefully ahead of a decisive end to the season.
In contrast, Brest arrive in the capital in poor form and low on confidence. Brest have now gone six league matches without a win, collecting just two points in that span and slipping comfortably into mid-table obscurity. Their campaign has gradually lost direction, with little left at stake in the final weeks.
Defensively, Eric Roy’s side have struggled throughout the season, particularly away from home, where clean sheets have been rare. Their issues were once again exposed in a heavy 4–0 defeat to Paris FC last weekend, underlining a worrying trend of inconsistency on the road.
Historically, Brest also face an uphill battle. They have failed to beat PSG in their last 33 meetings across all competitions, with most of those encounters ending in comfortable victories for the capital club — often by multiple-goal margins.
Even with potential squad rotation following a demanding European night in Munich, PSG’s depth and quality should once again prove overwhelming against a Brest side lacking both form and defensive stability.
