City Stars out to halt wretched record against Stima

Nairobi City Stars have won once against Western Stima since 2012.

Nairobi City Stars are seeking to halt their torrid run against Western Stima as the two sides lock horns in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash on Tuesday at Ruaraka Grounds in a 1 PM kick off.

Despite winning their last encounter against The Powermen, City Stars have only won three matches out of the 19 encounters contested between the two teams since 2009.

After gathering some steam in the league before the FKF Cup defeat to Bidco United, City Stars head coach Sanjin Alagić has reason to believe his side can maximize on home advantage to compound misery on Stima.

“The most important thing is to leave the Cup behind us and stay focused on the Championship. Western Stima is a good team, in a very difficult situation on the table,"

"It will be a big mistake to underestimate them, we'll not make that mistake. I expect a very tough and hard match, but if we are at our best level, I'm confident we can win this game,” said Sanjin.

City Stars had claimed the scalps of Kariobangi Sharks and Sofapaka in the league before eliminating Fortune Sacco and Ulinzi Stars in the FKF Cup and finally saw their winning run grind to a halt against Bidco United.

Simba wa Nairobi’s wins against Stima came back in 2010, 2012 and back in February and have drawn on nine occasions.

Stima are fighting on the wrong end of the table as they sit just one point above relegation places having gone three games without a win and badly need three points to cut the gap between them and 14th place Nzoia Sugar.

Stima coach Abdalla Juma in a previous interview noted that he has utilized the break to sort out his attacking frailties.

“We have really maximized the break because we have a full house and we are really working on things that have really disappointed us especially the finishing department,”

“We are hoping to work on the technical and tactical side, the team is playing good football but our finishing has been pathetic,” added Juma.
