Lihasi will be looking to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season and march Mathare’s Steve Njunge tally when Gogo hosts struggling Dimba Patriots on Saturday at the Hope Centre Grounds

Following a rollercoaster 2022-2023 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One season with Zetech Titans, Innocent Lihasi earned a move to National Super League (NSL) side Darajani Gogo FC, where he has set his eyes on winning this season’s Golden Glove.

Lihasi finished the season with nine clean sheets last term, coming fourth on the clean sheets charts among his peers in the league, a form that attracted interest from a host of second-tier and third-division clubs.

The custodian, who has become a key part of Paul Ogai’s charges this term, has kept five clean sheets in six games since his introduction between the sticks beating Emmanuel Orwa to the first-team duties.

The former Zetech goalkeeper in an interview with Mozzart Sport revealed that he is determined more than ever to clinch the Golden Glove in his maiden NSL season and rank among the best at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.

“I want to clinch the Golden Glove this season, there is no other target that I’m setting for myself even if something happens and I switch teams my goal will still remain the same.

I feel I am at the peak of my career at the moment therefore I want to utilize and repay the coaches' trust in me fully. I am hoping for an injury-free season in order to achieve my set objectives,” he added.

Last season, Lihasi endured a long clean sheet drought, going the last six games without a clean slate which ultimately cost him the Golden Glove after coming close in the first phase of the league.

The towering custodian has further highlighted his desire to steer in goal and lead the Kibra-based club to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, noting that the faith and trust put in him by the coaches will be rewarded with a spot in the top flight.

“The season started a little bit slow and we had a change in management which in a way turned our season around. Since then we have not lost a match and I have started in all the games. It will be nice to cap the season with promotion as a way of rewarding the coach and his technical bench for entrusting me in goal despite being the first season,” he concluded.

Lihasi will be looking to keep his sixth clean sheet of the season and march Mathare’s Steve Njunge tally when Gogo hosts struggling Dimba Patriots on Saturday at the Hope Centre Grounds.
