Ayunga, who recently extended his stay at Mirren by a year, was replaced by Conor McMenamin as the hosts sought to level matters.
Mirren found themselves trailing in the 42nd minute when Cyriel Dessers broke the deadlock for Rangers, finishing off Nicolas Raskin's pass.
Two minutes later, Mirren responded through Mark Ryan O'Hara, ensuring that the two teams were on level terms heading to the breather.
Rangers regained the lead in the 52nd minute through Raskin, with McMenamin replying for Mirren in the 73rd minute.
Eric Johana
While it was not an entirely good afternoon for Ayunga, his Harambee Stars counterpart Eric Johana suffered a 3-0 thrashing with UTA Arad in Romania.
Arad fell to Hermannstad in a Romanian top-tier match played at the Municipal Stadium in a game in which Johana played for 90 minutes.
Daniel Negut, Florin Bus and Ianis Stoica were all on target for the home side.
Vincent Harper
In England, Harambee Stars left-back Vincent Harper was an unused substitute in Exeter City's 3-1 win over the struggling Huddersfield Town.
Exeter secured all three points thanks to goals from Matias Niskanen, Jack McMillan and Andrew Oluwaburi. Joshua Koroma was on target for Huddersfield.
Clarke Oduor
Still in England, Clarke Oduor was missing in action as Bradford City fell 2-1 to Doncaster Rovers at Eco-Power Stadium.
Brian Bwire
Meanwhile, Harambee Stars goalkeeper Brian Bwire clocked the full 90 minutes as Polokwane City came from behind to hold SuperSport United to a one-all draw in a South African league match staged at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Bwire, who has been instrumental for Polokwane, especially in the second half of the season, had his bid for a clean sheet spoiled in the 19th minute when Christian Saile found the back of the net.
The relegation-threatened SuperSport did not enjoy the lead for long as the hosts drew level in the 39th minute courtesy of Lebohang Nkaki, who struck from the spot.
