The bankers are fourth on the log with 12 points having played 7 matches so far
KCB FC centre back Bernard Odhiambo believes the club is still firmly in the FKFPL title race, seven rounds into the season.
A number of clubs, including Gor Mahia, Tusker, and the high-flying Posta Rangers, among others, have been dragged into the early title talks.
Odhiambo, however, reckons that KCB will be a fierce contender for the elusive title this season due to a number of factors, among them quality in the playing unit.
The defender said coach Bernard Mwalala's track record is an added advantage in the quest to land the first ever major title.
He also pointed out the resolve of the players to break the dominance enjoyed by Tusker and Gor in the last decade, where the two have been exchanging batons.
"We are in to compete for the title and not to participate. No one should rule us out because we have all the ingredients to win the league. We have the depth and the team is under a tactician who is known for fighting for titles," he said.
KCB has never won the league title and will be bidding to break the jinx this season. The team finished second to Tusker in the 2020–2021 season, losing on the gong in the final rounds of the season.
This is not the first time Odhiambo will be working under Mwalala as the pair won the Domestic Cup with Bandari in 2019.
Odhiambo joined KCB in the off-season transfer window from Bandari and has raked up two starts and a couple of second-half cameos.
Up next for KCB is a Sunday early kick off match against Nairobi City Stars at the Kasarani Annex.
