Two Kenyan internationals midfielder Duke Abuya and goalkeeper Shaaban Ouma Odhoji lined up against each other in the Zambian Super League on Wednesday afternoon but it is the former that ended the match in high spirits after helping his side Nkana FC side thrash Napsa Stars.
Still in Zambia, former Gor Mahia defender Musa Mohammed featured in Lusaka Dynamoes' narrow win over Kitwe United. Here is how the action unfolded.
Duke Abuya, Shabaan Ouma Odhoji and David Odhiambo
Three Kenyans in Duke Abuya (Napsa Stars), Shabaan Ouma Odhoji and David ‘Calabar’ Odhiambo (both Napsa Stars) faced off against each other with the teams stuck in the relegation places.
Whereas Abuya and Odhoji were named in the starting eleven and got a full ninety minutes under their belt, former Gor man Calabar was limited to the bench the entire game.
The visiting Napsa got off to an early start in the game, Jimmy Mukeya converting for the opening goal of the game. Seven minutes to half, Abuya restored parity between the two sides with a strike in the 38th minute to ensure the two sides got into the break level.
A fully charged Nkana ran riot in the second 45 minutes of the game, sinking three more goals past a helpless Odhoji in the Nkana goal. Diamond Chikwekwe started the comeback with a strike just a minute after second half’s resumption before Gilroy Chimwemwe and Alex Ngonga extended the lead and put the game out of reach in the 59th minute and 82nd minute to, still stay in the relegation places but, reduce the gap to the safety places.
Musa Mohammed
Still in Zambia, but now over at Lusaka Dynamo, the former Gor captain managed a clean sheet as his side secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kitwe United courtesy of a Collins Sikombe goal that lifted the team upto fourth on the log table.
