Erling Brutal Haaland - new Terminator on the block

Ruthless Norwegian striker and his state-of-the-art performances are changing football game in front of our very eyes

Two superb goals and one assist in last night 3-2 away victory against Seville in Champions League brought Erling Braut Haaland once again under the spotlight. The 20-year-old Norwegian striker looks so dominant on the pitch that journalists from all over the world don't hesitate calling him the prototype of the 21-century striker. Or even Terminator - due to his somewhat ruthless facial expression combined with height, pace and cold-blooded finishing.

Haaland has already netted 18 times in just 13 UCL fixtures, which puts him in front of stars such as Platini, Totti, Rummenigge, Miroslav Klose, David Villa and Zinedine Zidane, who scored the same amount of goals. Except, they needed the entire career to reach those heights; Haaland did it five months before his 20th birthday. Brutal!

He was born in Leeds in July 2000 while his father Alf-Inge, a decent centre-back also featured for Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, was playing at Elland Road. Along with Kylian Mbappe, Haaland Jr. is the top prodigy, stand-out representative of the Gen Z that will probably change football game's definition dramatically in years to come.

Albeit 6' 7" tall, Borussia Dortmund's striker runs like Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi, even with a ball, displaying a technique unique for a man of his proportions. Seville is everything but a modest slot, and they conceded a total of three goals in ten games prior to that Borussia tie. Still, Lopetegui's outfit seemed so scared and delusional on Wednesday night confronted with a Norwegian terminator. Determined from the kick-off, Haaland plays wisely, not losing strength on chasing improbable chances, but heavily engages whenever he smells an opportunity arising. Talking about his rationality and lethality at the same time, just take a look at this stat. Since making his debut at Borussia Dortmund back in January 2020, the Norwegian has shot only 67 times; he has scored 40 goals!

Haaland ignited what could prove to be the sport's next big rivalry in his postmatch interview when he admitted Mbappe's performance the night before spurred him on.

"It was good to score goals," Haaland told on a Spanish turf and added:

"I love the Champions League, and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday, I got the free motivation, so thanks to him.

"He scored some nice goals, and I got a good boost from him."

Ok, Messi and Cristiano can step aside. Fasten your seatbelts. We've got ourselves a new top-notch rivalry.
