The 21-year-old joins the Bankers from Bandari FC, where he has been since January 2024, but endured a stop-start spell largely due to injuries that curtailed his development and limited his playing time.
Mozzart Sport understands Sakwa has run down his contract with the coastal club, making him one of the most attractive free agents in a transfer window that opened barely a week ago.
Several top-flight clubs, including Shabana FC, are understood to have shown strong interest in the striker, while Bandari also attempted to retain his services.
However, it appears KCB head coach Robert Matano has won the chase to rope in Sakwa as he continues to rebuild his squad ahead of the second half of the season.
Sakwa’s rise in Kenyan football has been anything but conventional.
He began his career at Matunda Sports Club, playing a pivotal role in guiding the side to three consecutive promotions up to FKF Division One before the club later rebranded to Kiminini Combined.
After just six months in the third tier, his performances earned him a trial with Premier League outfit Bandari, where he impressed enough to secure a contract in January 2024 under then-head coach John Baraza.
His upward trajectory soon extended to the international stage.
Just three months into his stint at the coastal club, Sakwa received his first Harambee Stars call-up in March 2024, narrowly missing out on the final squad.
A turbulent debut top-flight season followed during the 2024/25 campaign, though it did little to halt his steady progress.
In June 2025, Sakwa returned to the national team setup and this time made the final squad.
He was an unused substitute in a goalless draw against Chad, before coming off the bench in the return leg to score in Kenya’s 2-1 victory.
Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy continued to show faith in the forward, handing him his full international debut on August 3, 2025, against DR Congo at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Sakwa played 79 minutes in a 1-0 win and capped the display with an assist.
He has since featured against Angola, Morocco, Zambia, and Madagascar, which showed his growing importance at the international level.
At club level, however, the former Matunda Sports Club striker has struggled to find consistency due to a recurring groin injury, which has hampered his form during the 2025/26 season.
“This season has not been kind to me,” Sakwa admitted. “I started with injuries, and I am still recovering, but I am putting in the work to come back stronger.
I want to help the team, score goals, and take them back to where we belong," he said in an interview last week with Mozzart Sport.
Despite the frustrations, the forward remains optimistic about his recovery and believes patience and hard work will eventually pay off, both at the club level and with the national team.
