Everyone is amazed by how the Norwegian club operates, and coach of Como is no exception

People used to look at Bodo/Glimt as something cute, thinking their results were partly just luck. Some even believed a different tune would be sung once they left their icy home. Manchester City slipped on the slippery pitch, but then the Norwegian club toppled Atletico Madrid right in the heart of Madrid. They didn’t stop there—they went a step further.

They outplayed Inter Milan both in the Arctic Circle and at the Giuseppe Meazza. Now everyone takes them seriously. Bodo/Glimt has captivated the football world; many have begun studying the way the club operates, and more and more people are curious about what’s happening at the northernmost edge of Europe.

Cesc Fabregas is among them. Fabregas is impressed not only by Bodo/Glimt’s style of play but also by the methods implemented by Kjetil Knutsen. He liked the entire system so much that he decided not just to observe from the sidelines but to see firsthand what goes on.

Fabregas contacted Bodo/Glimt staff and arranged a meeting to better understand the aspects that intrigued him. The Norwegian team agreed to share some of their secrets with the Spanish strategist.

Fabregas was particularly interested in player nutrition, wanting to learn how diet can help players recover faster for matches, so he consulted with the club’s nutritionist. He also learned that Johannes Hosfolt uses identical dietary methods—the athlete who won six gold medals across six events at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Fabregas was shown an app that allows staff to monitor players’ diets even during time off, giving recommendations on what foods to consume when they are not with the club.

He also discussed youth players, who are at the heart of Bodo/Glimt’s project. Fabregas is particularly impressed that most of the players under Kjetil Knutsen’s command hold Norwegian passports. It’s not uncommon to see nine Norwegians in the starting lineup.
