FKF Div. One: Fortune Sacco batter Dandora Youth to pile pressure on Equity FC

MOFA were the only winners in the three matches staged in Zone B

Fortune Sacco march to the National Super League (NSL) gained momentum as the club thrashed Dandora Youth 3-1 at the the MYSA Komarock grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Fortune, who got relegated to the third-tier last season, dominated the match from the start flying in attacks from both angles of the pitch to the hapless Dandora custodian Emmanuel Otieno.

Constant pressing and pressure from the money lenders got rewarded in the 5th minute as Alex Mugane raced to an on coming ball from Bruce Kareno to slot home for the visitors but the lead lasted only few minutes before the host leveled in the 17th minute.

Less was to come in the first stanza with sides holding on to head into the breather tied on 1-1.

Sacco under the tutelage of team manager T.M. Karuiki got the second half underway on a high tempo grabbing the second goal of the evening immediately after the restart with Elvis Barasa at the end of a nice breakaway from the back.

Brace Kareno was once at the center of attention as he wiggled past the Dandora defenders driving the ball past the custodian for the third of the match and seal maximum points for the bankers.

The win saw the Kirinyaga-stationed outfit pip Equity FC at the top of the table and open two points gap at the helm.

Kibera Soccer 1-0 Equity

At NCC Grounds in Nairobi, underdogs Kibera Soccer scored a 90th minute penalty to hand Oscar Wamalwa's Equity a first defeat of the season and dent early their promotion hope. It was Mark Thome exceptional calmness on the ball that struck as he slotted the ball past the bankers’ net minder to seal his side’s maiden maximum points of the season.

At the Sina Makosa Stadium, Collins Maina scored an all-important goal to propel 3K FC over league debutants Spitfire FC. The victory handed the promotion chasing Embu club a lifeline after last week beating to Fortune and leaves them sixth on the standings.

Zone B

GFE 105 FC suffered the first defeat of the 2023-24 campaign as they fall 1-0 to Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) in a match staged at the Eldoret Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

Captain Joseph Bate strike was all MOFA required to register their second victory of the season and move them joint top of the league standings on seven points.

At Afraha C grounds, St. Joseph’s surrendered a first half two goal lead as Ibrahim Shikanda coached Bungoma staged a comeback to leave with a point in Nakuru. Stars goals were netted by the ever-lethal duo of Allan Sireka and Christopher Situma.

At Ilala stadium in Webuye, Stephen Orare scored in the dying minutes of the match to nick a point for Kiminini Combined in a clash of the debutants canceling a first half goal from the host Compel FC.

The draw was Yohana Wanyama's third in a row and it piles more pressure on the underwire coach with fans calling for his sacking following a dismal start to the season.
