For every Saka, there's one Son: thrilling North London derby ends in a stalemate

Arsenal were in the lead twice, but the Spurs managed to fight back for a deserved point (2-2)

We were hoping for a spectacle, and that's precisely what we got from the North Londoners on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal and Tottenham share spoils in a super-exciting derby that ends in a 2-2 draw after the Saka-led Gunners were two times up, but the Spurs fought back mostly through their remarkable skipper, Heung-min Son.

It was quite a see-saw that first half, as the hosts were much better in the opening 30 minutes and the visitors responded in the later stage. High pressure imposed by Mikel Arteta proved to be a perfect solution for some time, as Ange Postecoglou's side struggled to take the ball out of their own box, let alone half. After two great Vicario saves, the Spurs finally conceded in the 26th minute, thanks to their own player, Argentine defender Romero, who snapped the ball into his own net while trying to stop Saka's effort from the edge of the box.

For another few minutes, it seemed like Arsenal are ready to brush aside their archrival. Maddison lost the ball on the edge of the box, but after making a perfect tackle as a classy defender, Gabriel Jesus reacted as an inexperienced striker, smashing it over the bar.

And that was the moment Postecoglou's crew woke up and improved almost instantly.

First, Raya made a sensational save to deny Johnson before Maddison managed to fool Saka on the left. He drove into the area, cut the ball back, and the Spurs captain Son made no mistake, guiding a first-time shot into the far corner via the post.

However, after the break, the pendulum went the other way again. Spurs' tragic hero Romero came under the spotlight again after his handball prevented White from scoring. The VAR consultancy said it was a clear penalty, and Saka made it 2-1 from the spot.

But while the Gunners were still celebrating, Jorginho made a dreadful mistake in the back line. Maddison jumped on the loose ball, passed it to Son and all of a sudden, the score was level again, 2-2.

Although we were left with more than half an hour still to play at that moment, two evenly matched sides opted for a spontaneous retreat. Saka stepped up again in the stoppage time, but his mid-range effort went inches wide to seal this much-deserved four-goal draw.
