Getafe boss Jose Bordalas and his Cadiz counterpart Sergio Gonzalez are the people you need when you seem lost. Tonight, they go against each other

Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas and his rival for the night, Cadiz manager Sergio Gonzalez, are experts in saving teams. They are often called upon to rescue struggling teams and are always up for the challenges. In other words, if your club is in the sh*t - you need these guys!

It's rare for a club to hire Bordalas or Gonzalez to lead a team with championship aspirations. Instead, they are usually sought after when clubs find themselves in dire straits and are in need of a rescue mission.

Getafe owner and president Angel Torres turned to Bordalas when his club had been relegated to the second division and was in danger of dropping to the third division. Getafe ended up securing promotion to La Liga that same season.

Bordalas had previously led Deportivo Alaves to promotion the season before, but he did not continue as the team's coach in La Liga. Earlier in his career, he took over at Alcorcon when they were on the brink of relegation.

The only relatively sweet spot in Bordalas's coaching career was his stint at Valencia, although it came with its own set of challenges. Despite a difficult relationship with the club's owner, Peter Lim, Bordalas led the team to a ninth-place finish and a Copa del Rey final, which they lost in a penalty shootout to Betis. His' return to Getafe in a bid to avoid relegation with seven games remaining was a well-documented success.

His tonight's opponent has had a much smoother journey. Gonzalez began his coaching career with Espanyol, where he secured a comfortable 10th-place finish. However, he was dismissed in his second season when Espanyol was in 12th place. They ended the season in 14th place. His second chance came when he took over at Real Valladolid in the second division with eight games left in the season. The team was in 11th place and ended up getting promoted to La Liga through the playoffs.

In January 2022, Sergio took the helm of a struggling Cadiz team that was second to last in the standings. After an impressive second half of the season with 25 points in 17 matches, he secured their survival - and repeated the feat in the following season. Cadiz is currently 16th in the league, out of the relegation zone.

These two coaches, experts at putting out fires, face each other tonight. Playing on a Monday should be no problem for two individuals accustomed to seeking solutions seven days a week.

Sergio Gonzalez will have more problems than Bordalas in putting together his starting lineup. Cadiz has as many absences as they have games without a win: seven. This includes suspensions for Fali, Alejo, and Sobrino, as well as injuries to Ocampo, Luis Hernandez, Fede, and Zaldua. At Getafe, Arambarri and Unal are unavailable, while Damian, Gascon, and Angileri are doubtful.
