Gaspo, Nakuru through to WPL playoff semis

Gaspo face Vihiga Queens while Nakuru take on Thika Queens for a final berth.
Gaspo Women were a cut above Wadadia Fc as they dominated the Women Premier League (WPL) playoff quarters matches to register a huge 5-0 win in during the match played on Saturday, 19 June, at the Nakuru ASK Showgrounds.
On their part, hosts Nakuru West Queens disarmed Ulinzi Starlets 5-4 on post match penalties after a two-all draw.
Corazone Aquino almost netted the lead goal for Gaspo in the 10th minute however, missed the target by inches. Five minutes later, Elizabeth Wambui tried to convert for Gaspo through an awarded freekick, but the ball went wide.
In the 16th minute, Aquino came in with another attempt at goal that went over the bar, forcing Gaspo to wait a little bit longer for the lead goal.
Mercy Airo bagged the lead goal for Gaspo after she skilled past the Wadadia defense in the 18th minute. Her teammate Wambui converted an assist from Aquino, bagging Gaspo their second goal in the 35th minute.
In an attempt to equalize the scores, Wadadia made two attempts in quick succession through Ruth Chebungei and Carolyne Khaemba in the 42nd minute that missed the target for the match to head to the breather with the scores at 2-0 in favour of the zone A second place finishers.
Aquino scored the third goal for Gaspo in the 53rd minute while Wambui found the back of the net a minute later for her brace and Gaspo's fourth. In the 75th minute, Anne Anyangu attempted to pull one back for Wadadia but hit the crossbar. Wambui's third was yet to be quenched as she netted in Gaspo's fifth for a personal hattrick one minute to stoppage time.
Meanwhile, Nakuru finally had their revenge on Ulinzi for losing in the division one playoff back in 2019. In the 10th minute, Rebecca Okwaro bagged the lead goal for Nakuru Queens. Lucy Mukhwana equalized for Ulinzi in the 25th minute. In the 40th minute, Mukhwana gave Ulinzi the lead for the first time in the match with the soldiers holding to the slight advantage going into the break. In the 61st minute, Nakuru equalized and held on for the stalemate in regulation time forcing the match into penalties.
Noela Indikuli was the hero of the match as she scored the winning goal for Nakuru in the post match penalties.
