The defender suffered a severe knee injury, adding another problem on the Red Devils' list of troubles

Just when Ruben Amorim started shaping Man United's defence with the finally healthy Leny Yoro and revived Harry Maguire, and when their defensive wall was supposed to get stronger with the arrival of Patrick Dorgu, the Red Devils suffered another vast blow - Lisandro Martinez will miss the remainder of the season.

The Argentinian has been irreplaceable in the XI both under Erik ten Hag and the new gaffer, making 32 appearances in all competitions. Moreover, his form was improving, as he scored twice in January - the opener against Liverpool at Anfield and the winner against Fulham in London.

Martinez tore his ACL in the 82nd minute of United's clash against Crystal Palace after a relatively harmless duel with the Eagles' Ismaila Sarr. Given that the Red Devils did not react in the dying minutes of the transfer window and did not bring a replacement for the popular Licha, Amorim will have to rely on some of the understudies - Matthijs de Ligt, Victor Lindelof, or Jonny Evans.
