Harambee Starlets defender Euphraiser Shilwatso has revealed how the team's training camp in France has taken preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to another level ahead of the tournament in Morocco.

The Kenyan international said the intensity of training has significantly increased compared to the earlier residential camp held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, with every player fully aware that the continental showpiece is now just days away.
The Starlets are currently based in Miramas, France, where they are fine-tuning their preparations before traveling to Morocco for the tournament, which runs from 25 July to 15 August.
Having experienced both camps, Shilwatso explained that although the team has maintained two training sessions a day, the atmosphere in France has become more competitive and demanding.
"France has been good for us so far. We have been having double training sessions just like we did in Kenya, but now everything is more intense because everyone knows the tournament is here and we have to be in our best form," said Shilwatso.
The Kayole Starlets defender also spoke about her personal ambitions and the team's targets as Kenya prepares to return to Africa's biggest women's football tournament.
"Personally, I am happy to have the opportunity to play at WAFCON because it is a big stage. If I get the chance to play, I will give my best because you never know who is watching.
As a team, our target is to reach the semifinals because that would automatically qualify us for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup," she added.
Goalkeeper Vivian Shinyonzo echoed her teammate's sentiments, saying the conducive environment in France has helped improve the quality of training and boosted competition within the squad.
"We have really enjoyed our stay in France. The weather and the environment have been good, and everyone is pushing themselves to be in the best condition. That has improved the quality of our training," said the Kibera Soccer Women goalkeeper.
"Our target is to reach the semifinals, and everyone is working hard towards that. If I get the opportunity to play, I will give my best to help the team
Kenya has been handed a daunting challenge after being drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Senegal, and Algeria in what many have labeled the tournament's "group of death."
The Starlets will be hoping their intensive preparations in France provide the perfect platform for a strong campaign as they chase a historic first-ever WAFCON semifinal appearance and a place at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
