Morocco have become the first team to arrive in Nairobi ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which officially kicks off on Saturday.

The tournament will be co-hosted by; Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, the first time in history that the event is being staged across three countries.
The North African giants, who are pooled in Group A alongside Kenya, Zambia, Angola, and DR Congo, landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in the early hours of Monday morning.
They were welcomed by officials from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and representatives from the Moroccan embassy, who were on hand to ensure a smooth arrival and transition for the team.
After checking in at their hotel and resting, the team is expected to continue with its preparations for the tournament, which marks a major milestone in Kenya's football calendar.
On Sunday, Morocco’s team bus, fully branded in official CAF/CHAN colors and themes, was spotted in the streets of Nairobi, a clear signal that the countdown to kickoff is well underway.
Morocco will begin their CHAN campaign on Sunday, August 3, with a clash against Angola at the Nyayo National Stadium.
They will then face hosts Kenya on August 10 at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Their final two group matches against Zambia (August 14) and DR Congo (August 21) will also be staged at Nyayo.
Head coach Tarik Sektioui expressed optimism ahead of the tournament:
“We have selected players with the right experience and mentality for a competition like CHAN. Many of them feature regularly in top-tier continental club competitions. We believe that cohesion and tactical discipline will serve us well.”
