In the post, Al Zulfi simply wrote, “Thank you, Eric Omondi,” formally announcing the exit of the Kenya international.
Omondi had joined Al Zulfi on 14 August 2025 from Romanian side UTA Arad, where he had spent two seasons between the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns.
His arrival was seen as a statement signing, with the club banking on his vast international experience to add quality and leadership to their midfield.
During his time at Al Zulfi, Omondi made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and clocking a total of 712 minutes on the pitch.
In league action, he featured in 13 matches, accumulating 636 minutes, while he also turned out twice in the King’s Cup, Saudi Arabia’s domestic cup competition, playing 76 minutes.
The latest departure adds another chapter to a career that has seen Omondi carve out an impressive journey across multiple continents.
Since leaving Mathare United in 2016, the midfielder has built a reputation as a seasoned journeyman.

He later joined Jönköpings Södra IF for the 2020–2021 campaign.
In 2022, Omondi ventured into Belgian football with Waasland-Beveren before moving to Asia, signing for Thai giants Muangthong United for the 2022–2023 season.
That spell paved the way for his move to UTA Arad, where he spent two years in Romanian top-flight football before heading to Saudi Arabia.
