The left footed attacker has been phenomenal since joining the brewers in August last year

Frenetic Tusker forward Ibrahim Joshua was all in smiles after making his maiden appearance in the Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars, in a friendly match against Central Afriican Republic on Wednesday.

The burly striker was introduced for his debut in the early stages of the second half as Tanzania beat the Central African Republic 3-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

“I am thankful to God for the opportunity to play for my national team and I also want to thank my club Tusker for the support since I joined the team. This is now a motivation for me to do better and to try be a constant face in the national team,” he is quoted on the club's website.

The forward however admitted that it was a tough match for him being his first appearance at the international level but heaped praises on the constant faces at the national team led by Mbwana Samatta for helping him settle in quickly.

“It was a very difficult game for me especially because it was the first time I was turning out for the national team but I am glad I was able to settle in quick and get into the game. With the help of the senior experienced players like Samatta, it was easy to blend in,” he added.

The Tanzanian has scored 11 goals for Tusker in all competitions, hitting eight in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, two in the CAF Champions League qualifying round, and one in the FKF Super Cup at the start of the campaign.

Joshua will have a chance to play for the second time in the national team colours, perhaps even earn a starting place, on Saturday when Taifa Stars take on Sudan at the same venue at 4 PM.
