Injured again - Isak out until March

During the Tottenham game, former Newcastle striker scored and then got injured
Liverpool spent 240,000,000 euros this June on a tandem of new strikers, yet as early as January they could already be forced to go in search of another one — all because the more expensive of the two is facing a months-long spell on the sidelines. Numerous British media outlets report that Alexander Isak suffered a broken leg in a win over Tottenham, a match he contributed to with a goal. The Swede came on at halftime to replace the injured Conor Bradley and, around ten minutes later, scored to give his team the lead — but he was unable to celebrate the goal. Moments after sending the ball into the net, Isak ended up in the goal after Micky van de Ven slid into his standing leg with both feet.
Initial fear was that he suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage, which would be a far worse injury, but this one means he will miss around three months, which means he won‘t be able to play at least until March.
“When a player doesn’t even try to return to the pitch, that’s usually not a good sign, but I can’t say anything more than that,” Arne Slot said after the match.
🏥 It looks like a bad one for Alexander Isak who cannot catch a break right now.

The Telegraph adds that, in the wake of injury, the English champions will be forced to become active on the transfer market. Slot reminded at the press conference that the club does not have an “unlimited budget,” but the same source claims that Liverpool will at least consider the option of signing a new striker. After becoming the most expensive player in the history of British football, the former Newcastle forward has struggled with both form and injuries. Minor groin issues on two occasions have kept him off the pitch and prevented him from finding the desired rhythm, leaving him with just three goals and one assist in 16 appearances across all competitions.
