It's over: Inter are Serie A champions!

Nerazzurri needed only a point against Parma buy they won 2-0 and became champions for the 21st time
In the last six years, one team has clearly dominated Serie A – Inter Milan. Nerazzurri were the most consistent team in recent seasons and only once did they allowed themselves to lose the title due to their own mistakes (season 2021/22). But never again did they made that mistake and whenever they were in their recognizable form, nobody could match them. To be fair, the other Italian giants like Juventus and Milan are facing deep organizational and long-term strategy problems, which resulted in their inability to properly challenge Inter for the title, but that’s not Inter’s problem. Nerazzurri are led by the best football executive in Italy, Giuseppe Marotta, who always finds a way to win, either with smart transfers, or with a surprise coach hire like Cristian Chivu.

That is why Inter had no pressure in front of their fans as they needed only a point and they got all three: Inter – Parma 2-0. The 21st title was officially won tonight and Chivu’s men never looked like loosing this game. Parma came to Milano with their survival secured but couldn’t cope with Inter’s desire to end the trophy quest tonight, at their home ground. As soon as the final whistle was blown, the players came onto the field to celebrate with their fans, poured champagne all over the field and posed with Curva Nord.

The first real (and excellent) chance since the start of the game came in the 10th minute, Dumfries dived for another Barella cross, got there first, but his header went inches from the left post. Parma created their chance in the 20th minute, when Delprato crossed to Pellegrino, who coordinated his play at the penalty spot but missed a left-footed volley. The best chance of the match happened in the 25th minute. Barella's left-footed shot hit the crossbar, but Parma’s keeper Suzuki, with a brilliant reflex, took the ball from Thuram's reach almost on the goal line. The much awaited goal arrived in injury time. Thuram was somehow left with too much space in the penalty area and all Zielinski had to do was to give him a proper pass: 1-0 for the home team.

Nothing was happening in the second half as Inter still tried to secure the win, but apart from Dumfries and Dimarco crosses which were deflected by Parma defenders in time, nothing was happening. The Dutch defender, just like in the first half, missed a great opportunity in the 71st minute, when he somehow managed to shoot over the bar from close range. But everything was over nine minutes later, when Mkhitaryan used a pass from Lautaro Martinez to finish calmly for 2-0 and the pandemonium in the stands. The goal was an unofficial sign for the home fans to start singing their hearts out as they celebrated a deserved title.
