Villarreal are apparently eager to sign the former Arsenal midfielder, who is under investigation due to several rape accusations

Thomas Partey's career seemed pretty much doomed following serious accusations of rape and sexual assault, which saw him being released from his Arsenal contract. However, the 32-year-old free agent attracted the interest of none other than a Champions League side!

According to the renowned Spanish newspaper Marca, Villarreal are very interested in bringing the Ghanaian in the ongoing transfer window to strengthen their midfield.

"At 32, he is considered a player who can help the team improve its performance in midfield and provide a boost in quality for the Champions League, which the team led by Fernando Roig is currently immersed in," reports Marca.

Our Spanish colleagues expect that the Yellow Submarine will make significant moves in the coming days to accelerate contacts with the player. Partey is familiar with La Liga, since he already demonstrated his quality with Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid between 2012 and 2020.

Last July, the British Crown Prosecution Service charged the former Arsenal player with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, filed by three different women for crimes that allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022. The player is due to appear in Westminster on August 5.
