The Englishman scored the decisive goal once again as Bayern won 1-0 at Koln

You can say many things about Harry Kane, but the quickest way to paint the picture of his season is to say that he scored eighteen goals in his first twelve Bundesliga appearances since joining from Tottenham Hotspur. To put his achievement into perspective, the legendary Robert Lewandowski scored 17 in his entire first season with the Bavarians.

Goal number 18 came in Cologne as Thomas Tuchel's team continued its good run. Leroy Sane had already missed a good chance to open the scoring when Kane inevitably found the net. The England captain followed up to tuck in a loose ball from a parried Erik-Maxim Choupo-Moting's shot.

At the end of the game, it remains a mystery how the result wasn't far more convincing.

Tuchel's team displayed a sluggish performance in the second half, mirroring the hosts' struggle in creating clear goal-scoring opportunities early on. Beyond the hour mark, Bayern increased their energy in attack but still failed to find a second goal. Kingsley Coman came close to doubling the Bavarians' lead, meeting Leon Goretzka's flick-on at the front post, only to see his header hit the crossbar.

However, despite their efforts, the elusive second goal didn't materialize, and Bayern managed to maintain their narrow lead. Koln, the lowest-scoring team in the division, illustrated precisely why they hold that position, failing to capitalize on their late pressure. Consequently, they replaced Union Berlin at the bottom of Germany's top-flight league standings.

Bayern claimed to the summit of the Bundesliga standings - at least for a day. Leverkusen will get a chance to leapfrog the title competition once again when they play at Werder on Saturday evening.
