Kimanzi delighted with Wazito's progress, foretells bright future

Wazito FC head coach Francis Kimanzi is happy with the steps his team is making and has predicted that the side will be very competitive in the future. 

Kimanzi’s charges managed to bring Gor Mahia’s winning streak to an end on Wednesday when they forced a barren draw against the Vaz Pinto coached team. It is a match that they could have won as they appeared the better side especially in the closing stages of the game but Gor keeper Gad Mathews proved unbeatable against his former club and in the end the two teams shared the spoils.

Kimanzi who took over at the club at the start of the current campaign is impressed and believes that things will only get better in the near future with everything pointing at the team becoming competitive.

"We have made some good progress and looking at where we have come from and the preparation that we have had I think I like what I am seeing. There's some good development and indicators that we can be a very competitive team." he said.

Wazito has not scored much this campaign - finding the back of the net just 17 times and even relegation-threatened Western Stima have scored more (19). For Kimanzi however, this is not an issue of concern as he is contented with the fact that the team is creating goal-scoring opportunities.

"I am not really concerned about it. I am happy that we are creating those opportunities and that means that we are getting closer. If I create three to four clear chances and I don't get a reward, I know what to trigger to get a reward in the next game. We are not far from it, " he added.

Next for Wazito is a home match against AFC Leopards scheduled for Saturday 26th June at the Ruaraka Grounds.
