Agent reveals both giants made approaches, despite his vow never to coach another English club after Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp turned down Manchester United and Chelsea after leaving Liverpool, his agent Marc Kosicke has revealed.

Both Premier League giants made approaches after Klopp left Anfield in May 2024, despite his very public vow that he would never manage another English club.

But still, they tried...

"Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired," Kosicke told Transfermarkt. "Although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These inquiries haven't stopped."

Before committing to his new role as Red Bull's head of global soccer, Klopp also had the option of international football. USA. England. Possibly even Germany had Julian Nagelsmann not already taken charge.

He said no.

Klopp also said no to Bayern Munich - twice. Once in 2008, when Uli Hoeness pushed for him, but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge chose Jurgen Klinsmann. And again in 2019, fresh off Liverpool's Champions League triumph, when Bayern came calling after Niko Kovac's exit.

"At the moment, he's very, very happy," Kosicke insisted. "Maybe one day he'll want to smell the locker room again. But right now, he has undergone a metamorphosis."
