The German coach would like to lead his country's national team

Real Madrid and Jurgen Klopp—a familiar story, and once again a false alarm. Another rumor with no substance, just like every previous time the two have been linked, which tends to happen whenever Madrid are (even hypothetically) looking for a new coach. According to AS, even now—while Real are searching for a replacement for Alvaro Arbeloa for next season—there is no truth to the Klopp connection. The club has not contacted him, nor does the German coach have any intention of moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Their information suggests that Klopp wants his next job to be as head coach of the Germany national football team. Since that position is currently held by Julian Nagelsmann, the former Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund manager is willing to wait for the opportunity. Until then, he is expected to work as director of football operations at Red Bull Salzburg.

Klopp left Liverpool in June 2024. Since then, he has been linked with several major clubs—almost every time a top job opened up—but he has consistently made it clear that he is not interested in returning to club management for now. Real Madrid are almost certain to enter next season with a new coach, as Arbeloa has not impressed, although he inherited a difficult situation after the departure of Xabi Alonso. The “Royal Club” will finish the season without a trophy—and for Real, that always counts as a failure.
