According to sources from Germany, Bazoumana Toure's potential move to Anfield could become Hoffenheim's record-breaking sale
Have you heard of Bazoumana Toure? Even if you did, it probably happened in the past few months, as the 20-year-old's career flew slightly under the radar for quite some time.
Two years ago, he left his homeland, the Ivory Coast, and joined the Swedish club Hammarby from ASEC Mimosas. In his first and only season in Northern Europe, he recorded nine goals and three assists in 23 appearances - enough to catch the eye of a more prestigious team.
On February 1, 2025, the popular Bazou joined the German side Hoffenheim for €10 million, helping the club from PreZero Arena narrowly avoid relegation.
Nevertheless, this season turned out to be the whole other story, as Christian Ilzer's men are currently fighting for a place in the Champions League, with Toure being one of their crucial players with 27 appearances, three goals, and 11 assists in the Bundesliga.
On top of that, the youngster shone at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring two goals for the Ivory Coast - in triumphs against Gabon and Burkina Faso - in only 41 minutes he clocked in the tournament.
Hence, it's no wonder that only two years after leaving his homeland, the winger could be on the verge of a career-defining move.

He was recently closely scouted during his national team’s 1–0 win over Scotland at Everton’s stadium.

Namely, according to the German Sky Sports, Liverpool are interested in bringing Bazou, whose deal with the Bundesliga club runs until 2019, and are willing to splash out a record-breaking sum.
Hoffenheim reportedly demand around €45 million, which would be their record sale. It currently stands at €43.5 million - the amount Newcastle paid in July 2019 for Joelinton's move to St. James' Park.
The only player from the Ivory Coast to play for the Reds was Kolo Toure, who wore their jersey between 2013 and 2016. Perhaps it's time for a new Elephant at Anfield.
