For the first time in the last three years, the former Barcelona and PSG forward has clocked 90 minutes in every one of six league games in a row
Back in the day, Neymar Jr. broke countless records, both in terms of his superb goalscoring stats and the money clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain spent on signing him.
But those days are long gone, and now the 33-year-old Brazilian forward is punching way below that level. Still, it seems like those worst days are behind him as Neymar slowly returns to his former self now that he's finally at home, at Santos FC.
The atmosphere in his boyhood club seems to be beneficial for Neymar, who has not only returned to the pitch after a terrible knee injury but is also maintaining his steady rise.
For the first time since 2022, Neymar has actually played six full league matches in a row.
Goals against Flamengo and Juventude, along with decent performances against Cruzeiro, Sport, Internacional, and Mirassol, have proved that the former Selecao superstar is slowly regaining his old shape and rhythm.
"I want to play 90 minutes of every game," Neymar said recently. "I want to be better physically, but that takes time, both in terms of playing and training."
Neymar admitted he remains some way off recapturing his best form.
"My body is still adapting, getting used to everything again," said Neymar.
"It's not easy to deal with the injury I had. I'm very happy to be able to contribute in every way, both attacking and defending. I'm not 100%, but I'm getting better all the time," he added.
