What we have here is probably the quickest job departure ever in the top European leagues

We've seen coaches parting ways with their clubs after only a few months or a sole season. But Gennaro Rino Gattuso, a legendary Italian player, pulled off probably the fastest departure for one tactician in major European leagues.

His mission at Fiorentina lasted for only 22 days and ended yesterday, the Serie A club officially confirmed.

"ACF Fiorentina and Mister Rino Gattuso, by mutual agreement, have decided not to follow up on the previous agreements and therefore not to start the next football season together.

The Company immediately set to work to identify a technical choice that will guide the Viola team towards the results that Fiorentina and the City of Florence deserve," AFC Fiorentina announced on Thursday.

According to Italian media, there had been tension between the club, owned by American businessman Rocco Commisso and Gattuso over both strategy and resources available for signing new players.

Before Fiorentina, Gattuso was sacked by Napoli in May after failing to clinch the Champions League spot for the following season.
