Matano admits to missing defender's presence

Tusker FC tactician Robert Matano has admitted that the team has missed the services of defender Eugene Asike who has been out injured for slightly over three weeks.

Asike suffered a nose injury during Tusker's 2-0 win over Vihiga Bullets at Ruaraka Grounds and was subsequently ruled out for a month but the towering defender resumed light training last week ahead of schedule.

With the league taking a two-week break, the defender is expected to be ready for The Brewer's assignment against Sofapaka towards the end of the month, with the rescheduled clash against Ulinzi coming too soon.

Despite keeping clean sheets in all the matches that Tuksre have played without Asike so far -against Vihiga Bullets, Bandari twice, and Ulinzi Stars, Matano feels that his absence in the team has been greatly missed.

"We are feeling his absence. However, he is being represented well. He is out with injury but his colleagues have stepped up in his absence," Matano said.

Speaking on their next assignment away to Ulinzi Stars at Nakuru on Wednesday, Matano acknowledged that it will be a tough game considering that the two teams are facing off two times in a span of five days.

Against the Soldiers, Tusker will be seeking to string four wins in a row for the first time this season, having won three back-to-back games only in one instance in October spilling to November.

"It will be a tough game because beating a team twice in such a short time is very difficult. But we will give our best to see if we will get the three points again," he added.
