The slum boys play Bidco at the Thika Stadium

Mathare United will be looking to redeem themselves from a 4-2 defeat suffered in the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz when they play Bidco United on Thursday at the Thika Sub County Stadium.

The 2008 league champions were on course to snatch a point from the Homeboyz tie but conceded twice in dying minutes of the game to register their 15th loss of the season.

The defeat worked against their plot to smart out of the rock bottom of the log and will hope that luck will be on their side when they take on the league new comers.

The match will be their first home duel to be played outside Nairobi thanks to the scarcity of standard playing surfaces in the capital city, a development which deprives them of home comfort.

However, coach Frank Ouna believes that the venue will count for nothing in the must win tie which should they prevail they will scale to a point within safety.

"We have nine matches left to play, which to us is nine cup finals. The venue isn’t much a concern for us, we just have to perform wherever it is we get to play. Bidco didn’t play in Thika for the entirety of the first-leg of the season and still managed to get results including against us in Nairobi. We just have to find a way,” he said on the club's website.

Bidco who won the first leg 2-1 at the Kasarani Stadium courtesy of a bizarre own goal by Lennox Ogutu at stoppage time welcome Stephen Waruru back after recovering from a muscle injury.

"I will be available for selection today after missing a couple of matches due to a muscle problem. I anticipate a tough match but hopefully we will bag the three points," said the former Sofapaka player.

Bidco who are placed 12th with 28 points have collected a point in their last matches as they played Sofapaka to a barren draw and lost to Nzoia Sugar by a solitary goal.
