Tusker goalie fractured his arm in January during a league encounter against Sharks

Tusker goalkeeper Robert Mboya will be fit enough for intense goalkeeping drills from next week after recovering from a fractured arm.

Mboya who began light training a week ago has been out since January after breaking his arm in a league match against Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Annex.

The former Mathare United custodian revealed that he comfortably lifted weights in the gym the whole of last week and thus will be able to gather shots as usual from next week.

"The pain has subsided and I think the arm will be strong enough to catch the ball as usual without strain by next week. I have been lifting weights in the gym without strain in the past one week," he said.

Mboya, has been unlucky with injuries this season as he was stretchered off and rushed to the hospital during the 1-0 win over Vihiga United in December last year after colliding with an opponent.

He however shook off the jaw injury within two weeks only to hurt his arm a few weeks after recovery.

Meanwhile, the club's attacking midfielder Eric Zakayo has challenged top-flight clubs to consider scouting raw talents at the grassroots level and give them a chance on the big stage.

Zakayo's dream to ply his trade in the elite league came to pass last season after the club elevated him to the senior team hardly a year after joining the Youth team.

The player who returned to his hometown in Kitui county following the indefinite suspension of sporting activities said there is a basket full of talented players in the counties who deserve to be rubbing shoulders in the FKFPL.

"There are good players in the grassroots who deserve a chance at the top level. Had I not gone out of my way to search for an opportunity, probably my talent would have gone to waste. Not all players have the courage to go out and look for opportunities, " he said
