Duhail’s next league game is against Al Gharafa on October 14.

Michael Olunga’s Al Duhail are set to appoint former PSG coach Christophe Galtier as their new coach, replacing Hernan Crespo who, is set to leave the club.

Crespo’s fate was sealed on Monday when the Doha-based club lost to Iranian side Persepolis in the Asian Champions League.

The result complicated the team’s chances as they had drawn their opening game against Istiklol and face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in their next continental assignment in a fortnight.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Duhail are set to appoint the former PSG boss as their new head coach after striking a deal.

“Christophe Galtier, on the verge of being appointed as new Al Duhail head coach, talks at the final stages with the Qatari club. Hernán Crespo has been fired, and the plan is now to appoint Galtier as new manager if all goes according to plan,” he tweeted on Tuesday night.

Galtier has previously handled Saint-Étienne, Lille, Nice, and Paris Saint-Germain. He won the league titles with Lille and PSG.

In July, Galtier and his son John Valovic-Galtier were arrested over racism allegations raised for his spell at Nice.

Nice’s former director of football, Julien Fournier, released a dossier detailing how the tactician requested that he not recruit many Muslim and black players for the team.

“He [Galtier] told me that I should take account of the reality of the city and that, in effect, we should not have as many blacks and Muslims in the team,” Julien said.

“He told me he wanted to profoundly change the team’s make-up and limit the maximum number of Muslims.”

Immediately after the allegations surfaced, the coach’s lawyers threatened action against

“Given the seriousness of the accusations against him, which he firmly denies, Christophe Galtier has asked his lawyer to begin without delay the judicial proceedings, which are all the more necessary given that, since this came out, he has been the target of intolerable threats and harassment," read the statement from his lawyers.

Duhail’s next league game is against Al Gharafa on October 14.
