Kipyegon has admitted that Nzoia were fitter than them and that they had to work harder to win
AFC Leopards assistant captain Isaac Kipyegon says they anticipated a difficult game against Nzoia Sugar; this is after they battled to down the Millers at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
A first-half goal from Caleb Olilo is all that the Patrick Aussems lead team needed to pick three points and in the process closed on leaders Tusker FC who are two points ahead having played a game more than Ingwe.
Speaking after the match, Kipyegon who partnered Robert Mudenyu at the heart of defence said the Millers made things hard for them just as they had anticipated.
“The game was tough just as we expected, they made us work. I think Nzoia were fitter because we know that they have been training for a longer period than us and they really fought to get something out of the match,” he told Mozzart Sport.
According to the former Zoo FC man, the match against Ibrahim Shikanda’s side was more mental as they are were already struggling physically having trained for just a week before the resumption of the league.
“We managed to contain them despite their spirited fight in the second half and won the game. We thank God for this result. To us the match was more mental than physical because physical-wise we are not 100% fit and you could see in the second half particularly there were moments that we struggled,” he added.

Kipyegon refused to be drawn into the title debate saying for them it is a game-at-a-time approach.
“It is an important win and we will build on it going forward. For us, it’s a game at a time we cannot speak of winning the title right now, the goal is to focus on getting wins and we will see what will happen at the end of the season,” he added.
Next for Ingwe is an away match against Posta Rangers.
