Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz have been handed a massive boost following the return of the trio of Alex Imbusia, Potiphar Odhiambo and Hillary Otieno.

Imbusia joined Homeboyz at the beginning of the season from Sofapaka FC, but has been missing in action for at least the past two months due to a nagging knee injury,

Odhiambo and Otieno, on the other hand, missed Homeboyz's 5-0 win over Sofapaka before the FIFA international break after suffering patella tendon and plantaris muscle injuries respectively.

Odhiambo, who was the National Super League (NSL) MVP in 2021, has been a key pillar at the back, pairing up with Brian Eshihanda in the central defense, and so has been Otieno, who has been a regular starter in the midfield, partnering with Eston Omengo, since joining Homeboyz midway through last season from Wazito FC, now Muhoroni Youth.

The trio resumed group training after shaking off their injuries and will be hopeful to be in contention when the Mozzartbet Cup winners face four-time FKFPL champions Ulinzi Stars on Sunday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Odhiambo and Otieno have been key figures and starters for the Homeboyz, while Imbusia's absence has seen an overreliance on Kevin Amwayi and Sifuna on the flanks.

Their return will definitely give the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side a boost as they seek to make it three wins in a row.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the Mozzartbet Cup award-winning tactician expressed his happiness following their return, stating that their recovery was timely ahead of Sunday's tie.

"We had to do without the services of Potiphar Odhiambo and Hillary in our last match. The two have been key in the squad, and missing them meant falling short of depth, but I am so glad to have them together, with Imbusia back with the team, which simply injects a wider scope of selection and depth in the team. We will have to closely monitor their progress and hope to have them ready and available for selection on Sunday," he said.

The Kakamega-based team is four points shy of league leaders Posta Rangers, and a win on Sunday will propel them to a point within reach of the mailmen.
