The former Gor Mahia forward has four goals in the last three league games

Posta Rangers head coach Stanley Okumbi is over the moon with his forward Timothy Otieno following his decent goal returns in the recent Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches.

Otieno who returned to the team from injury at the start of the year has four goals in the last three league rounds, the most he has scored in a season since returning to the Kenyan top flight.

The former Tusker man had struggled with form and injuries since joining Sofapaka in February last year from relegated Zambian Super League side Napsa Stars.

Okumbi who acquired the former Gor Mahia last year said he as impressed with his recent form and encouraged him to keep the fire burning going forward.

The former Mathare United head coach has had to over-rely on his wingers to shoulder the scoring burden and Otieno's form will certainly come in handy in his plan to inspire the club to either fight for the league title or achieve a respectable finish.

"I am happy with the way he is taking the scoring chances even though he is still miles away from being at his best. He has been patient and pushing hard in training and I encourage him not to relent for his own sake and that of the team," he said.

The former Harambee Stars coach who is on record lamenting on the low conversion rate by his charges had earlier hinted of beefing the forward line in a bid to inject competition and replace the two who left.

Rangers have parted ways with Josphat Lopaga and Dennis Oalo who were deemed surplus to requirement. The two have been linked with moves to AFC Leopards and league debutants FC Talanta respectively.
