Michael Olunga expects Harambee Stars to approach the game against Egypt with motivation.

Japanese Most Valuable Player (MVP) Michael Olunga anticipates a different proposition when they face Egypt and Togo in the final African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo.

The Kenyan forward jetted into the country on Sunday afternoon from Qatar where he plies his trade with 2020 champions Al Duhail after making the big-money move from Japanese outfit Kashiwa Reysol.

Olunga urged his competitors to be motivated for the penultimate AFCON qualifiers clash against Egypt on Thursday as it will ease their nerves when taking on Togo.

“We know the calibre of opposition that Egypt and Togo are, we have played them before and drew against them. I think it will be a different game because we are playing in Egypt at home and Togo away.”

“These are our final two games and we know our position in the group, we need to be more motivated and deserve to play very well especially in the first game because it will show us how we approach the second game,” said Olunga.

Kenya sit third in Group G with three points from four games trailing joint group leaders, Comoros and Egypt by five points having picked up a point against the lowly ranked Islanders.

Olunga links up with Harambee Stars for the first time in 16 months with his last game coming in the 1-1 draw against Togo back in November 2019.

“I feel good to be back in the National Team, it is a motivation in itself, to come here and be tasked with helping Kenya leaves me humbled, so hopefully it will be a good experience,” added Olunga.

Kenya will take on Egypt on Thursday 25 March at the Kasarani Stadium in a 7 PM kick-off.
