Ingwe are now just two games away from playing continental football again after progressing to the cup semis
AFC Leopards goalkeeper John Oyemba has revealed the club’s ambition to put an end to their four-year absence from the continental scene after they progressed to the semifinals of the Football Kenya Federation cup.
Ingwe advanced to the last four of the knockout competition following a 1-0 outmuscling of Tusker FC in the quarter finals where a solitary Isaac Kipyegon penalty was all they held onto at Ruaraka Grounds to book a spot in the semis where they will meet surprise package Equity FC.

Following the narrow win, Ingwe are just two games away from staging a comeback to the CAF Confederation Cup where they will grab a qualifying ticket if they keep their cool and win the remaining matches against division one side Equity and the winner of either Gor Mahia/ Kariobangi Sharks or Nairobi City Stars/Bidco.
Ahead of the semis clash scheduled to take place over the weekend, the goalkeeper, who has largely been entrusted with a spot in the cup competition, revealed the club’s sure secret to breaking the continental no show since 2018.
“We knew every match was going to be tough. The game against Tusker was once again very tough but we have been taking every match as a final and that is how we have been preparing for every match we go into in the cup. Right now we are just taking one game at a time but at the same time having our eyes on the bigger prize which is CAF continental football,” the goalkeeper told Mozzart Sport.

The last time Ingwe played continental football was in 2018. That is after they won the cup in 2017 when they defeated Kariobangi Sharks in the final played at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani. At the time, Leopards was under the tutelage of Robert Matano.
