Largely known for his exploits at left back, Omar has been deployed in the middle of the backline for the better part of the season, especially by Muyoti and his predecessor Dusan Stojanovic.

Omar was once again impressive for Police at central defense in their 1-0 win over 12-time league champions Tusker FC, not only in guiding the team to keep a clean sheet but also providing an assist for Yves Koutiama.

Speaking after the victory over Tusker, Muyoti took time to shed light on the decision to switch his captain’s position.

“Abud is experienced, and I just thought it would be wise to play him as a left-sided centre back because we signed two good left-backs.

With his experience, quality and leadership skills, I thought it would be better to deploy him as a centre back to accommodate others, and I am impressed with how that is turning out,” said Muyoti.

The switch has worked in favour of the league's defending champions, as they have conceded the fewest number of goals (17) thus far this season.

“We have conceded fewer goals, and this is a matter we continue to improve on, and Abud has been integral in that journey.”

Muyoti also lauded the foreign signings in the squad, noting their impact on improving the team.

“I am happy because we signed quality foreigners. If you look at the second leg, for instance, the foreigners we have, Koutiama, Malonga (Hernest), Quansah (Samuel) and even Jacques (Ndecket) are all brilliant, and I believe having them adds more quality to our team,” he remarked.

Police are currently fourth on the log with 43 points, 14 shy of league leaders Gor Mahia.
