His two-year spell at the Western region giants ended unceremoniously at the close of the 2022/23 FKF PL season.
It’s only five days before the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) transfer window closes and while players are in a rush to secure their positions in the top flight, clubs on the other hand are in a rush to tie loose ends having seen their current units play in two rounds of the league so far.
The deadline for international moves is long gone so no one can come in or go out of the country; as it seems, it’s all local now.
It is for this reason perhaps, that Gaetan Masha wants his release from Kakamega Homeboyz as soon as possible so he finds a new place to play. Having been axed by the club a few weeks ago, he says he still awaits the paperwork in order to complete the exit.
‘’As of now, I am yet to come into agreement with any team for a potential move because I haven’t had my release letter yet. I’ve made efforts to seek it but there are a few delays I am told,’’ says the attacking midfielder.
There was word that his former club Nzoia Sugar had beckoned him to head ‘back home’ but that was long before the league commenced. Nzoia, having rebuilt a new team almost from scratch, look set with one win and a draw in their opening two matches of the season. But could use more firepower.
Masha however, admits that he can only determine his future in the upcoming season after getting his release.
‘’Nzoia was among the teams that were interested in my services and that was before the league began. So far, I cannot say for certain that I am in talks with such and such a team until I’ve had my release.
It’s important that way so that conflict does not arise,’’ continues the diminutive Congolese forward.
His former side Kakamega Homeboyz faltered in the continentals, the club’s maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup. A buoyant 0-0 draw at home to Al Hilal Benghazi before taking a 4-1 fall away. There's always a first time.
Upon resumption in the league, newbies Murang’a seal stunned the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup Champions at St. Sebastian Park by a solitary goal. Homeboyz have only had one outing in the league so far due to their engagements in the continent.
Masha’s two-year spell at the Western region giants ended unceremoniously at the close of the 2022/23 FKF PL season. Having played under the watch of three coaches, Nicholas Muyoti, Bernard Mwalala and current Homeboyz boss Patrick Odhiambo.
