The Royals were on the brink of loss, but Dani Carvajal stepped up with his only 6th goal ever to make it 1-1
Real Madrid have dropped two points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan on Saturday night.
It was an intense, bad-tempered La Liga game with lots of commotion between the players. Moreover, a couple of controversial refereeing decisions caused some more tension. Carlo Ancelotti's side thought they had taken an early lead twice. VAR ruled out Federico Valverde's strike, while Jude Bellingham found the back of the net after play had already been stopped for a foul.
This is insane. Ref tells the Sevilla player to get up and play on, and then sees Real Madrid get a transition attack and changes his mind.pic.twitter.com/gqCjoBODMl

Sevilla were eventually the one to break the deadlock after 74 minutes, thanks to David Alaba's unfortunate own goal. However, Los Blancos pegged back just four minutes later. None other than Real Madrid veteran defender Dani Carvajal nailed a header following Toni Kroos' free-kick. That was Carvajal's first goal of the season and only 6th in his entire career!

Both teams then pushed for a winner, but despite seven minutes of stoppage time, neither could find it. It means that Real Madrid remain top with a three-point lead, whereas Sevilla move up to 13th place.
