The Kenyan international is the current top scorer in the the league with 15 goals with closest challenger coming in at 11 goals

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga extended his purple patch in front of goal as he bagged a match winning brace that ensured his Al Duhail side got back to winning ways following a 2-0 victory recorded against Al Arabi in a Qatar Stars League match played on Saturday evening.

Having not found the back of the net since the New Year 2022 started, Olunga atoned for his failure to score in the previous match as he bagged his league leading 14th and 15th strikes of the season in the match played at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

It did not take long for the former Gor Mahia man to get up and running in 2022. Just four minutes into his second match of the year, the Kenyan international showed brilliant composure against the Arabi defense in finding his first goal of the match.

From a loose ball, the Ali Almoez squared the ball to Olunga who sold the last defender with a dummy before placing the ball past the onrushing keeper to give Duhail the lead they would keep till the half time break.

In the second half again, Olunga only needed three minutes to complete his brace as he tapped in a close range effort from an inch perfect low cross from Mohamed Al Aaeldin who located the striker who was completely left isolated.

With the two strikes that took him to 15 goals in the current campaign, Olunga opened a four goal buffer between him and closest challenger Baghdad Bounedjah as Duhail went to two points of Al Sadd who still lead the table on 31 points despite having played two games less.
