Mutamba says he wants to rebuild his career after a turbulent few months.

Sofapaka striker Piston Mutamba says he wants to rebuild his career again after some turbulent few months that saw him lose an opportunity to play in the Libyan league.

The forward was expected to join, Asswehly FC but a disagreement between the Libyan side and his former club Bidco United scuppered the deal. He returned to the country and joined the Sofapaka in January.

As football resumes on Friday, Mutamba says he wants to rebuild his career and understands that he will have to put in extra work in training to hit top form again.

For me, this is redemption time because I have been unsettled for some time, I wasted some time. I need to work extra hard in order to compensate for the time lost and also hit the top form once again,” he told Mozzart Sport.

In terms of his fitness, the former Kenya U23 forward admitted that he is not fully fit but will be in shape in the next few weeks.

In terms of fitness I am not 100% ready but that’s something that I will work on. I will be good in the next few weeks,” he added.

Sofapaka started the season poorly and currently sits 12th in the log with 16 points after 14 rounds of league matches and Mutamba acknowledges that his team will have to work harder when the league resumes.

“It definitely feels to be back after many weeks out. We missed football and now that the government has allowed us to resume playing, we can afford a smile once again. We want to turn things around. The team started the season badly but in training, I can see everyone is determined and working hard, we will definitely do better,” he concluded.

Sofapaka will play Wazito FC on Sunday afternoon in Wundanyi.
